Today, I will get the opportunity to train with amazing coaches and players. One of my friends from back home is here from spring break. I always used to beat him, but now he has passed me in UTR. It will be important for me to focus on the process and remind myself that results don't matter.
I have an obligation to my parents, coaches, and my future self to carry myself well. I will not get wrapped up in how I am doing in comparison to him. We are on our own journeys and I only need to focus on how I will make myself a better player than I am now.
I will focus today on being aggressive with my serve and serve+1. I will also focus on attacking the return to the targets and I will not roll it in. These two things, along with my footwork, are usually the first things to go when I am nervous. I will keep my body language confident and I will play with confidence.
My coaching voice will remind me that I will focus on the things over which I have control. I have no control over how I play or results, only my intentions. I control my response to situations, and how I think about them. I am excited to play and practice hitting while dealing with pressure. I am learning how to be a great problem solver.
